The European Heritage Days in Villers sur Mer

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days this weekend September 18 and 19, 2021, Villers sur Mer invites you to discover its most beautiful seaside villas. Emblematic architectural heritage of the seaside and the beginnings of vacationing on the Normandy cost, discover the first villas from the 19th century to the latest Belle Époque constructions through guided tours organized on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. by the Villers sur Mer Tourist Office. Come to discover the history of the development of the pretty seaside resort of Villers sur Mer from the 19th century to the present day, by traveling according to the architecture of the latter.

Also, on Saturday, do not miss the guided tours at 10 am or 4 pm of the Saint-Martin church of Villers sur Mer, an essential example of the neo-Gothic style that flourished in Normandy in the 19th century. You will be able to admire the famous sculptures of the Jacquiers brothers and the magnificent stained glass windows of the Duhamel Marette workshop, classified as historical Monuments since 2006. In addition, Marc de Guerpel, architect, and his team invite you to rediscover this remarkable church through the prism of its renovation on the occasion of the opening of the site of its bell tower from 9:30 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Finally, the Paléospace museum in Villers sur Mer opens the doors of its reserves to the general public this Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in order to promote the issues of heritage preservation, and understand the different stages since the discovery of a fossil until it entered the “Musée de France” collections. A great opportunity, by the way, if you had missed it, to see this year’s temporary exhibition « CROC’odiles » on the evolutionary history of crocodiles.
