Normandy Impressionist Nights 2022

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Claude Monet’s masterpiece Impression, rising sun, painted in 1872 in Le Havre, Normandy is hosting the Nuits Normandie Impressionniste from 26 to 28 August 2022. On this occasion and for three days, the festival will honour the major sites of Impressionism in the region.

This event is a precursor to the major edition of Normandie Impressionniste 2024, or the 150th anniversary of the Impressionist movement.

 

What to remember:

• 3 days : 26, 27 and 28 August 2022
• 15 venues : Rouen, Caen, Le Havre, with a few  » detours » to Giverny, Deauville, Dieppe, St Lô and the Orne
• the 5 department’s of Normandy mobilised
• about twenty contemporary artists
• about thirsty festive and innovative events, most of them free

 

EVENTS NEAR THE OVERSEAS HOTEL 

 

Le Bal Blanc evening at the Franciscaines des Deauville

La Bâronne de Paname, the organiser of the Montparnasse balls, and the artist Kees Van Dongen, invite you to the Bal Blanc at the Franciscaines. The ball will plunge you into a party worthy of those of the Impressionist era, with the only condition being that you must be dressed in white! On this occasion, you will find about thirty artists: musicians, DJs, tap dancers and cabaret dancers… and take a leap into the extravagance of the Roaring Twenties.

Short visits to the Caen Museum of Fine Arts

The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Caen offers an afternoon of « exceptional short visits » lasting 30 minutes to learn more about the key themes of the Impressionist painters: tones, glazes, flat tints… The museum takes you on a journey through the cycle of the sun in painting and to admire the « touch » of Claude Monet. In the evening, a giant picnic is organised on the lawn of the castle.

Saturday 27 August, several tours from 2 to 5 p.m.

 

And to finish, a guinguette in Le Havre

The Nuits Normandie Impressionniste meet the Béton Le Havre festival for a guinguette. On this occasion, Normandy gastronomy will be honoured with a tasting of seafood products on the fish market. Afterwards, let yourself be entertained by the colourful drawings and jokes of the artist Charlotte Vitaioli on the terrace of the bar Chez Lili on the banks of the Bassin du Roy.
