The new promenade Claude Lelouch in Villers-sur-Mer

Last Sunday March 26, 2023 has to be marked with a white stone for Villers-sur-Mer. Indeed, the seaside promenade, at the foot of the Outre-Mer hotel, which the people of Villers used to call « the digue of Villers« , wears now the prestigious name of « Promenade Claude Lelouch« .

The famous international director has personally inaugurated the new seaside promenade, where he learned to walk. Indeed, the « West dike », right by the sea, just in front of the hotel Outre-Mer, today pays homage to the multi-award-winning filmmaker. The Normandy beaches and in particular the Villers-sur-Mer beach stretching in front of the Villa le Couchant (villa where the hotel Outre-Mer is located), are the setting for many of Claude Lelouch’s films, « A man and a woman” or even “Les Misérables“, examples among many others.

On this occasion, a special day is devoted to the movie maker, present throughout the event day, with on the program: an exhibition of photographs chosen by the filmmaker himself in partnership with famous French paper Paris-Match, a cocktail, a screening of the autobiographical documentary: « From one film to another » (2011) and a meeting with him.
